flue gas desulfurization scrubber
An FGD scrubber—also known as flue gas desulfurization—is one way humans fight against pollution today. The main function of the FGD scrubber is to remove sulfur dioxide (SO2) from gas emitted out a power station chimney or other industrial facility. This technology incorporates an absorber tower filled with limestone slurry; contact between the gas and this material neutralizes the SO2, transforming it into gypsum that can be utilized once more or appropriately disposed of. In this way, not only do harmful emissions get reduced but also a product for sale (gypsum) comes out at the other end. FGD scrubbers are used in many places, from large-scale pile coal power stations to iron and steel mills. They are essential to enterprises' meeting of environmental laws and cutting the carbon emissions that result from industrial production.
