desulphurisation in steel making
This is a critical part of the production process in changing the composition of steel so that it is deprived of sulphur. Raising the levels of desulphurization throughout the entire system can give better early results; at this point, however, a high sulphur content in hot metal permits even bad steel to be produced easily. As well as lime and others, stages in desulphurising agents used include calcium carbide that reacts with sulphur to form calcium sulphide; a compound which can then be readily removed. Desulphurization is now used a large number of areas such as creating high-strength steels for automotive and construction industries, manufacturing stainless steels that require严格 control of sulphur additives. The process ensures that the steel meets strict quality standards, and gives it superior performance in a variety of end-use applications.
