fluid gas desulfurization
With fluid gas desulfurization, a high-tech method, it has been devised to get sulfur dioxide (SO2) removed from streams of gas. It main function is to alleviate air pollution. Sulfhydryl dioxide can be collected and processed into sulfuric acid or other profitable outlets at a cost compatible with the implementation of this technology. It employs a fluidised bed reactor that achieves gas-solid contact and captures sorbent from the limestone or other materials injected into the gas stream. Sulfur dioxide reacts with sorbent to form solids that are easily retrievable and can be used further in chemical processing. Thus, this method has been found to be both efficient and effective in removing high sulfur dioxide concentrations under varying gas temperatures and compositions. Fluid gas desulfurization has a wide variety of applications, including in the treatment of emissions from coal-burning power stations, heating and petroleum refining processes.
