desulfurization of coal
Coal's desulfurization aims to reduce its sulfur content and thus minimize harmful emissions before It is burned. The main purpose of this process is to control the environmental pollution from coal-fired heat. For a start, there's sulphur dioxide-which poses a major threat to life and interferes in many other aspects of nature as well. Technological features of coal desulfurization include the use of absorbents, such as limestone or lime, which react with sulfur compounds to form stable, solid byproducts The process can be implemented in various configurations including wet scrubbing, dry scrubbing, and flue-gas desulfurization systems. These technologies are applied in coal-fired power plants and industrial facilities where large quantities of coal are combusted. By significantly reducing air pollution and its associated health risks, we are protecting the environment kinder--or at least trying to look after our own interests later on with one big economy and its people together.
