esp electrostatic precipitator
An ESP (also known as electrostatic precipitator) is a sophisticated air pollution control device dedicated to capturing fine particles from gases using the energy of brought-about electric charge. The main function is to be able to capture particulate matter such as dust, smoke, and fumes before it is released into the atmosphere. Technological features of the ESP include high-voltage power supply, collection plates and discharge electrodes that produce an electric field. This technology has the effect of charging particles, causing them to move towards the oppositely charged collection plates. The collected particles then are removed from the system, cleaned, and disposed of or recycled. ESPs are widely used in such industries as power generation, mining and metallurgy where they play a key role in meeting environmental regulations and improving air quality.
